    SA Mine High-Voltage Electrical Installation

    JWP Electrical was tasked with delivering a high-voltage electrical installation for the newly developed mine, a significant copper-gold mining operation in South Australia.

    The project required installing systems deep underground, from the surface substation down to low-voltage connections for drill rigs. With the added complexity of designing a system that allowed for controlled cyclic power shutdowns, we faced unique logistical and safety challenges.

    The Challenge

    A brand-new copper-gold mining operation in South Australia required a complex high-voltage electrical installation deep underground. The project involved installing systems 2.5 kilometres below the surface, where the environment posed significant logistical and safety challenges. The high-voltage infrastructure needed to be reliable, with the capability to manage cyclic power shutdowns to ensure ongoing maintenance and operational efficiency.

    JWP Electrical provided a comprehensive high-voltage installation for the mine. Our team designed and implemented a robust electrical system that spanned from the surface substation to the underground facilities. We ensured that the power could be stepped down to low voltage for drill rigs, with a cyclic shutdown design allowing for safe and efficient maintenance.
